Basic Requirements Teaching English in China

To work legally as a teacher in China, you must meet the following core qualifications:

• 🎓 Bachelor’s Degree (in any subject)

• 🗣️ Native English speaker from the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa

• 📄 TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA certification (120 hours minimum)

• 🩺 Clear criminal background check

• ✅ Basic medical check (completed in China)

🎓 Which English Teaching Certifications Are Accepted?

You’ll need one of the following English teaching credentials:

• An EFL (English as a Foreign Language) certification such as:
  TEFL certification (Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language)
  CELTA certification (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)
  TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) – same as TEFL

Do I Need Teaching Experience?
